Parent Coaching

Strengthen the relationship.
Not just the behaviour.

A confidential space to think, reflect and grow — so you can show up as the parent you want to be, even in the hardest moments.

One of the most common goals parents bring to coaching is simple: "I want a better relationship with my child."

Not because something is broken. Not because they need a list of strategies to control behaviour. But because parenting is genuinely hard — and the attitude, the outbursts, the eye rolls, and the moments that somehow become personal deserve more than a quick fix.

Parent coaching creates space to think. To explore what is really happening beneath the surface, and how to respond as the adult you want to be.

You don't have to be struggling to benefit

Parent coaching works for any parent who wants to grow — whether things feel difficult right now, or simply different from how you'd like them to be.

Feeling stuck in a pattern

The same arguments. The same reactions. You know how you want to respond — but in the moment, something else takes over.

Navigating a transition

Adolescence, a new sibling, school changes, family shifts — moments when the relationship needs conscious attention.

Wanting more connection

Life gets busy. You want the relationship to be stronger, warmer, and more intentional — and you're not quite sure how to get there.

Reacting faster than you'd like

You find yourself snapping, withdrawing, or escalating — and then wishing you had done it differently.

Questions worth sitting with

What needs my attention right now?

Separating what matters from what can be let go — and learning to tell the difference in the moment.

What's really behind the behaviour?

Understanding the child beneath the reaction — and what they may be communicating that they cannot yet say.

How can I collaborate rather than control?

Moving from power struggles toward partnership — without losing your authority or your boundaries.

What relationship do I want to build?

Getting clear on the parent you want to be — not just in the easy moments, but in the ones that test you most.

What parent coaching is not

Common misconceptions — and why they shouldn't hold you back.

Not about fixing your child

Your child is not the client. You are. The focus is on how you respond, not on changing them.

Not a parenting manual

There are no scripts, no one-size-fits-all rules. Coaching helps you find your own answers.

Not therapy

We work with present thinking and future goals — not diagnosing or dwelling on the past.

Not judgement

This is a confidential, non-judgemental space. Whatever you bring, you are met with respect.

How coaching works
1

Free initial consultation (30 minutes)

We talk about what is on your mind, what you are hoping for, and whether coaching feels like the right fit. No commitment required.

2

We agree a focus together

Together we identify what matters most right now — a specific challenge, a pattern, a relationship dynamic — and set a clear intention for the work ahead.

3

Regular coaching sessions (typically 60 minutes)

Sessions are held online, at a time that works for you. Most parents work with Michiko for six to twelve sessions, though this varies based on your goals and pace.

4

You leave with more than insight

Each session produces something concrete — a perspective shift, a practical approach, a question to carry forward. Coaching is thinking in action.

A parent and child in a tug of war — an image of the exhausting dynamic coaching helps to transform

The tug-of-war gets us nowhere. Coaching helps you put the rope down.

Coaching with Michiko has been an empowering experience. Her skills, compassion, and support gave me insights into myself. I’ve learned ways to help both myself and my child that I couldn’t have imagined. I’m truly a happier and more understanding mum today, thanks to Michiko.
